Flu Season, Bah Humbug

The night of Gaia’s birthday (Sunday a week and a half ago) she started getting sick again. I say again because she was sick the week before, but we assumed she had gotten better and she resumed school and all that fun stuff. Well the night of her birthday she said she wasn’t feeling well again, but we pushed on with the festivities anyway hoping the desire for fun would outweigh the crappy feeling.

Needless to say by Monday afternoon she was puking on the monorail at Disney and by Tuesday I, too, was running a fever and stuck in bed. She was quite pitiful the entire time, but I am amazed because she still did things like color and watch TV and eat real food. I was completely bedridden for nearly 3 days and I didn’t want to do any of those things. Carlos took her to the doctor Thursday where they said there was nothing they could do for her flu and we’d just have to ride it out. That kind of crap makes me mad because here we are going on week two and all they can do for the flu is write  doctor’s note for school. Being the mom and feeling seemingly worse than the child, I just couldn’t take it anymore and so I sent her with her father to ride out the remainder of this illness.

From what I hear she’s doing excellent and is excited to reunite tomorrow for our trip to Ohio together. Though my nose is still a running faucet of sticky mucus, the day-long car ride will be welcomed for some much needed mother-daughter bonding.

Cans for Comments Totals:
20 new followers!

I didn’t originally include new followers in my pledge, but since I got a good amount I’ve decided to double my donation. So originally I said 1 can per 5 comments, which is 6 cans (I’m rounding up). So I’m going to donate 12 cans for this cause. Horray!

Today I am sending out Christmas cards. I did get the master list from the 2012 Angel Card Project, and I am adding Grandma Betty and Sandy Hook Elementary to my list. I’m actually not sending very many cards at all this year in comparison to years past. We haven’t even taken a family photo yet. Card slackers over here…

  7. I got the flu shot and I felt awful for 24-hours, but I guess it’s better than getting the flu.
