A Healthy Retreat for Pits in the Summer Heat

It is hot here in Florida. And I mean HOT. I’ve been a horrible, selfish mother and have been trying to keep the kids entertained inside for the sake of less sweating. Our A/C is blasting, and somehow we can still sweat a little inside. Going to the pool is sometimes a viable option, but everyone else in my apartment complex has the same idea and so the water gets warm and it becomes pointless navigating the crowded water with children in tow. It’s not even worth it, and so we’ve been staying inside most of the time.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge fan of shaving my armpits for personal reasons. In that post I also write about how I tend to stick with Jason deodorant in times of extreme need. Well, summer has me back to shaving and my armpits requiring some extra TLC. As part of my movement towards healthier, natural living I’ve been trying to make my own household products or buy natural products from work-at-home types. I think I’ve found my favorite natural deodorant, folks.

peace pits

Christina at The Hippy Homemaker has started expanding her organic goodies to include all kinds of summer appropriate products. She graciously sent me some of her new Peace Pits to review. I am in love. At first I expected the jar to arrive in a melty mess (Christina ships from Texas), but it arrived all in one piece! I put it on right away and instantly enjoyed my gift of fresh-smelling underarms!

I apply Peace Pits in small portions once every two days. Yes folks, even in summer wearing one chunky baby and chasing a 5-year-old the small nickle dose you see above works for two days! After the first day the essential oils fade, but my armpits still smell normal and not stinky for another day or so. It goes on clear and doesn’t rub off on my black clothing either.

My underarms also feel better. They aren’t itchy or flaky (which is a problem normally using store-bought deodorants) even though I’ve been shaving them regularly. It’s barely a bother, and that’s rather refreshing as a low-maintenance mama.

I definitely recommend Peace Pits to everyone! Peace Pits comes in several lovely scents to choose from: Tea Tree & Chamomile, Morning Fresh, Country Life, Lavender, Lavender Lemongrass, Cedar & Clove, Citrus Mint, Grapefruit Lavender, and Unscented!

    • Toms is actually a sneaky company doing secret bad things. Their deodorant made me really itchy so I didn’t even finish the stick I just tossed it. Peace Pits is awesome. πŸ™‚

  2. Sounds interesting. I might just try this.

  3. That’s different πŸ™‚
