If you Google water beads you’ll find a lot of different fun things to do from sensory activities to flower vase arrangements. I honestly never heard of them until a few months ago during a co-op buy in one of my Facebook groups. I was intrigued, and that’s when my window shopping obsession began…
I would often get on different water bead websites and add different colors to my cart. However, I was so confused about how X grams looked when the beads were fully expanded. I didn’t want to over buy, or not have enough. They’re so cheap that shipping seemed silly if you didn’t get exactly what you needed. I came to the conclusion that I just needed to wait until I could find them in a local store. But they aren’t popular enough around here. No one knew what I was talking about.
And then I was at The Dollar Tree looking for something completely unrelated and BAM! They were hidden tucked away in slightly tacky packaging next to the flowers. Heck yes!
I’m having a budget friendly, backyard wedding in November. I am I am making almost everything myself, including the centerpieces and decor. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit to water beads, but since The Dollar Tree happens to carry them in my colors ( I’ll only need to get teal online) it’s totally happening now!
Water beads are small beads that expand in water and essentially become a source of water.
They take about 6-8 hours to expand fully, but the kits at the Dollar Tree had easy to follow directions and I appreciated that an appropriately sized container was included. I left them overnight, and woke up to perfectly round, deliciously moist decorations for my wedding centerpieces! Just using one bag of the blue and clear beads, I can make three fabulous centerpieces using a candle and round vase I found near the wedding section.
I plan to purchase different sizes of glass containers and maybe submerge the beads with a floating candle. I’m not quite sure. But I do know that utilizing The Dollar Tree is making my wedding really adorable without breaking the bank.
I can’t even tell you how excited I am about finding water beads at my favorite store.
