I’m Worth It {a YOUnique review}

I have a friend who I felt was with me when it came to “looking like a mom.” You know the look: sweatpants/yoga pants and a tee shirt adorned with spit up. The head is topped with a very non-cute messy bun and there are big fat sad circles under the eyes. It happens. But there comes a time when the kids are not babies anymore and you have to get yourself out of that rut. My friend Elena got there before me.

Elena is now one of my favorite, down to earth make up fanatic friends! She needed a little confidence, and she found the boost in motivation she was looking for with YOUnique products.

I am not a fancy gal. But watching Elena shine through her business sparked a desire inside of me. The desire wasn’t to put on make up and look good… It was to feel good and radiate that same confidence in my daily routines.

I’d bee using the liquid touch foundation for a few months when Elena asked for volunteers to try their new loose powder. I was spoiled by the magic of the liquid touch foundation’s ability to smooth out my skin, so going in I was  bit weary. Long story short: it was a success!

I don’t wear make up every day, but on this particular day I was starting with a fresh face that was all dolled up the day before. I washed my face that night (twice) and then again just before this photo was taken. Here I am, all moisturized and ready to go.

Note: I have a lot of redness on my cheeks and a weird red patch on my chin. My chin would normally get a lot more attention when applying my makeup, but since I decided to go half and half this time, I did not attempt that coverage since it’s so center.

So first I just took my liquid foundation and put three tiny drops on my brush and dabbed it all over the right side of my face. In the pictures, the liquid foundation is on the left.

I literally just keep dabbing and then gently brush in little swirls. And I have no idea if I’m doing it right. I am not a makeup artist. Just a girl. A bad one. Ha!

But you can see why I’m spoiled, right? YOUnique touch liquid foundation is photoshop in a bottle. Smoothed all my flaws and took a lot of redness away with minimal effort and application. *swoon*

So to compare, I simply applied the loose powder to the other side of my face.

You can see how similar the coverage is! I honestly did not expect that same coverage when applying the loose powder for the first time because it was so light and easily blended to my skin. But it smoothed out my face in the same ways and dulled the redness on my cheeks.

(I can totally understand why they call these products “touch” foundation. After I apply my makeup I have a habit of rubbing my face with my hands because it is sooo velvety soft!)

I wore my face this way all day. I didn’t feel weird, no one noticed.

When my husband came home from work, I asked if he could tell a difference between the two sides of my face he was really confused.  I explained my experiment and he said yes, the left side (right in the pictures) was a bit redder. Well folks, loose powder typically gives less coverage. “Did it matter?” I asked him. His response was a typical husband one:

If I hadn’t said anything, he wouldn’t have noticed anything at all.

So I use liquid foundation when I feel like wearing makeup. I use the loose powder when I’m “expected” to wear makeup but don’t want to. An if I’m going out or am invited to celebrate a special occasion I use both, because why not?

I’m worth the extra effort that it takes to apply makeup. And I love how confident a simple face can make me feel!

The best part is that YOUnique products are good for your face. It’s a pretty excellent company overall and Elena is very happy to be a part of it. I’m happy to support her business and I absolutely LOVE watching her makeup tutorials and experiments.

Just got the lip liner. Excited to try that, then maybe move up to the foundation!!

  2. I have heard good things about this brand! Lovely review 🙂

  3. I can’t really tell the difference either. I like liquid foundation, but it is nice to see that the powder works just as well and is probably a much quicker application.

I live in Florida so the powder would be a great option for myself both look great tho!
