Car Maintenance Tips I Can Appreciate [as an Adult]

Once upon a time I used to brag about my car that never needed an oil change. The engine never blew up, the car never overheated, and no smoke ever made my entrances to parties embarrassing or smelly. I was a teenage girl with a car I paid for with a handful of Daddy's cash dollars (it wasn't much, but the point here is that it wasn't mine either). I bought a 2000 Kia Sephia and I loved her to death! I literally killed her... I drove her into the back of a truck and totaled Marilyn's (yes that's my Sephia's name) adorable front end. R.I.P. Marilyn. As you can see I did a lot of things differently back then. I love art. I truly truly feel … [Read more...]

Walgreens Healthcare Clinic Cincinnati Saved My Vacation

All health related suggestions and opinions expressed in this post are all my own. #HealthcareClinic #CollectiveBias So I just got home from my Spring Break road trip thing. Not that traveling with kids is ever a fantabulous vacation, but the winter on-off switch tried it's best to make matters worse. We arrived in Northern Kentucky with beautiful 60 degree weather, but before long it was below freezing and snowing. It warmed up again before we left. By that … [Read more...]

Learning to Fully Enjoy My Day {Post- #BWFOrlando Thoughts}

I'm planning this trip to Kentucky to visit my best friend and my mom's side of the family. We're all actually from Florida, they just all managed to up and leave towards the same general area. Total weirdos if you ask me. I forgot it's still winter everywhere else. I don't know what I'm going to do in the snow. And I'm taking my kids and braving it alone and I'm terrified I might explode. Both from anticipation and anxiety. But I am gathering supplies for the Once Upon a Time sampler so I'll be picking up cross stitch here soon. I actually have half the colors already and the necessary needles, it was just a matter of getting the fabric … [Read more...]

Local Resturants to Eat At in Fort Walton Beach, Florida

I love going back home. My last trip was this past Thanksgiving and it wasn't the most traditional of holiday experiences. I missed my cousin dearly though, and so I enjoyed spending time with my family. It was a lot of down time, this vacation. Pretty relaxing on the surface, we got to spread ourselves thin simply doing things we missed doing. Part of going home almost always includes hitting up our favorite local restaurants. Like it would any local to "the fort," these places bring back memories just snuggling into a familiar table or booth. In the fof chance you're headed there for your next holiday break or family vacation, let me … [Read more...]

5 Reasons Why Hatchbacks are More Fun

Tuesday, November 12, I bought a Prius. It's a 5 door 2005 silver vehicle with a rebuilt battery and lots of love. I wasn't sure how I would react to actually making the purchase even though it is exactly what I was looking for. I have only ever owned two cars in my entire life. Okay three, but the Honda Civic that was older than me and broke down once a week over the course of the two months I owned..? It doesn't count. She has her bumps and bruises and I have to take her back to the dealership to get the passenger door lock fixed (the censor is broken so you have to manually lock and unlock - #firstworldproblems), but otherwise she's … [Read more...]

Tampa Bay Comic Con feat. Padme Amidala from Star Wars

Ever since I was in high school I've hung out with the nerdy crowd. I used to attend tournaments in comic book shops and spend nights up late watching the boys LAN it up and drink peach schnapps. (We were hardcore.) I have not, however, in my 26 years of life ever been to a comic book convention. That is, until this past weekend. Last Saturday I took my two week old, wrapped him up, and committed to a day out downtown. I'm bad, I know, but I sometimes suffer from cabin fever beign a stay-at-home mom with no car. I gave Hutch the choice, Tampa Bay Comic Con or the Tampa Bay Birth Fair. He chose Comic Con (go figure) and so off we went. But … [Read more...]

Happy Easter!

I hope you're all enjoying this time with your families! I know I am. I have the easiest, cutest baby on my hands. Today was truly a day of rest for us. We went to Hutch's parents' yesterday. Their community had a promising "egg hunt" planned for the kids. Unfortunately it was a complete bust. As you can see they just had the eggs thrown out in a small area. There were two age groups, but it was still unfair. Some kids were crying because they got none, and some kids were gloating about having a basket full of twenty or so eggs. Gaia took a pretty heavy tumble over the yellow tape and had a late start. Parents maneuvered their children … [Read more...]

My Best Friend is a Superhero

Arianna, my best friend, is a superhero. I'm not even 100% sure if I should write her full name so potential employers can find this via Google or not, but she's so awesome I just had to share with you how lucky I am to have such a bright, shining star in my life. I met Arianna my senior year in high school in a creative writing class. She sat next to me in her jean jacket and peace sign tee shirt and immediately began to talk to me with this annoyingly cheerful tone. (I did not enjoy high school... I was not pleasant.) I don't think it took longer than a week for her to break me. We became really good friends. Arianna is the most … [Read more...]

November Disney Trip

My father has a time share and purchased annual passes for all of us, so we frequent Disney. This month Disney World had a soft opening for their "New Fantasyland," or as they put it, a dress rehearsal. We couldn't help but to ride the carousel first, like always... Then it was on to the new stuff. Apparently Belle has a castle like Cinderella's now. Inside is a little restaurant and such. We stood in a short line to meet Belle. Gaia was part of a play and she got chosen to play Mrs. Pots. Then we traveled on to meet Ariel. We rode the ride, too... it's like the Nemo ride if you've ever been on that one. Then of course the scheduled … [Read more...]

Honduras & Grand Cayman

Folks, Honduras was my absolute favorite place. I dropped Gaia off at Camp Carnival because of our "bad day" in Belize. She had a blast and made a tee shirt, a bracelet, and a bear so I'm sure it was equally enjoyable for her. (Walking around with mommy while she shops can be tough for a 4-year-old, I can only imagine.) The view was awesome from the boat... & the ship looked adorable from the land: That night Gaia passed out from too much fun at camp. And it was needed because my favorite part of the cruise was in Grand Cayman when we took a tender out to a sand bar and played with sting rays!!! Uncle Steve and … [Read more...]
