Breastfeeding Cafe Carnival: Dispelling A Common Breastfeeding Myth

Welcome to The Breastfeeding Cafe Carnival! This post was written as part of the Breastfeeding Cafe's Carnival. For more info on the Breastfeeding Cafe, go to For more info on the Carnival or if you want to participate, contact Claire at clindstrom2 {at} gmail {dot} com. Today's post is about breastfeeding myths and dispelling them. Please read the other blogs in today's carnival listed below and check back for more posts July 22nd through August 4th!     I missed yesterday's carnival, but the topic was online resources so I'd just shamelessly plug Breastfeeding Place anyhow. You know how I … [Read more...]

Confession: I hate children.

Yes, I hate children. My own flesh and blood are, of course, an exception to this rule. I love my children to death and view them as perfect human specimen. But generally speaking, I hate children. Okay there's another exception: infants. I love babies. That is how I can still tolerate to dream of being a midwife and learning all I can about early parenting. Squishy little babies are freaking adorable, there's no denying it. But once they learn to walk and talk... forget it. I think children are disgusting. They have excessive saliva, pick their nose and leave boogers everywhere, and get so dirty when given an ounce of freedom. With my own … [Read more...]

Growing so tired of being so far along. I was convinced that because I was at a better place this time around I would make this pregnancy one of those happy, glamorous, joyous celebrations from beginning to end. Unfortunately everything hurts and at this point I'm totally wishing I could have a few shots of whiskey. Making little tooth plushes! February is Dental Hygiene Month so I wanted to have some cute things to list in my shop to celebrate! Worrying about how the next 5 and a half weeks are going to pan out. Hutch essentially has two jobs right now, except he doesn't get paid for his externship. I never see him anymore, and he's so … [Read more...]

Happy 2013

Dear 2012, Things could have been worse. I'm not going to gloat about how good you were, but there's really no reason to complain either. A year ago I was miserable and lost. Though sometimes I can still feel that, things are definitely looking up.Your positivity definitely outweighed your stressful events, and that's all good stuff. Now lets take a look at 2012 in bloggy recap style: January // I started this blog on my mom's birthday. It was an incredibly awkward experience and I wasn't sure what it would turn into. February // Our failed manatee viewing day was really fun even though we didn't get any sea cow action. March // My most … [Read more...]

Christmas Cookie Swap

Back in November I signed up for this Christmas Cookies swap with Julie at White Lights on Wednesday and all her fun foodie blog friends. In the days awaiting my recipe in the mail I just kept thinking "please not sugar cookies, please not sugar cookies, PLEASE NOT SUGAR cookies." See folks, I like to bake, and I can make an un-cracked cheesecake last minute look easy. But I can not do sugar cookies. I have no idea why. I have tried them several times in several different ovens with no success. It's my all-time mom failure... my child will never decorate cookies for Christmas. I suck that way. So I go t the mailbox and I open my letter. … [Read more...]

Wishlist Wednesday #5

Welcome to Wishlist Wednesday week number four! I'm very excited to bring you this fun linky along with Optimistic Mommy. Contact me if you're interested in being featured here and at Optimistic Mommy and hosting the linky on your blog next week! It's our last week and we'd love to have you. :) This week I'm lusting after a printer. I haven't actually done research on which one I'd like specifically, so for the sake of this post I'm going to go with this Brother All-in-one Wireless: If I had a printer I would: Print my homework earlier and do it before the deadline. Right now I'm taking math classes online and I generally wait until last … [Read more...]

Tea on Tuesday Social Hop (I’m co-hosting!)

Hello hello! I am co-hosting this fabulous link up today. I thought I'd take a moment to re-introduce myself in case my newer followers have no idea what's going on or someone new drops by and wants to check out the haps. Brief synopsis of this blog... yes? I consider this to be a personal blog. I blog about a lot of different things. The holidays are super jam packed with craziness so this time of year you should expect a few reviews, a few giveaways, and lots of crafty/baking goodness from me. Generally I do Wordless Wednesdays, but lately I've dropped that because I have Hump Day Bump Day (it's a boy, due in March). I used to do D.I.Y. … [Read more...]

Away for the Holidays Postcard Swap!

All these Secret Santa and ornament swaps have me busy busy busy! (In a good way, of course.) I am sad to see it end, and honestly was kind of bummed I didn't host one of my own. We'll, I've decided to keep the cheer going and do a little post-holiday swap! So here we are, announcing the Away for the Holidays postcard swap! I'm running this baby through Elfster. It's my first time. I'm participating in a few more over there and so far I like the website. So this swap is all about being away for the holidays. It's cheap, easy, and it adds a little joy to returning home after a long winter vacation. Basically while you're out of town … [Read more...]
