Making Expired Breast Milk Lotion (Revised)

A year ago I posted a very exciting and popular article that detailed how to make expired breast milk lotion. I received several inquiries on separation issues. Since I'm such a nice person, I wanted to fix this for my mama friends. I want those of you making this recipe to enjoy it fully with as little issues as possible. I did more research and I've revised my recipe to account for some issues. Breast milk is a great resource for healing skin ailments. Paired with shea butter, coconut oil, and honey this concoction is sure to leave your skin feeling healthy and new. This lotion is great for eczema, rashes, and dry skin. In my … [Read more...]

Making Expired Breast Milk Lotion

This recipe has been revised to account for separation and spoilage issues. Please hop over to the revised version to get your expired breast milk groove on! I have been blessed to spend most of my breastfeeding days at home with my son. Although I did recently decide to go back to work, there's no need to pump much since he's in full toddler mode with the solid food and almond milk consumption. I do, however, have plenty of milk in my freezer taking up space. It's a good thing, too, because that patch of dry skin I thought was pregnancy mask is hanging around making my face look all scabby and blah. Try to ignore the fact that … [Read more...]

Breastfeeding Awareness Photoshoot feat. Eshakti

Motherhood can take a lot out of you. It's not uncommon for moms to feel run down or frumpy. (Frumpy is totally a word, by the way.) Although I am not normally one to wear dresses, I do enjoy dressing up occasionally. My comfy mom shape makes my entire wardrobe tricky, but thanks to eShakti I had a lovely frock made that was custom fit to my shape and preferences. And what better way to show it off than to have a  fancy photo shoot to honor Breastfeeding Awareness Month. Breastfeeding photos of my 17-month-old toddler are very dear to my heart. We wanted to go with something different while still capturing the essence of our casual … [Read more...]

Hotmilk Lingerie Makes Mamas Feel Sexy!

I've been nursing my little man for just a few days shy of 16 months. I had expected us to get at least this far since I made it to 19 with his sister, but what I hadn't expected was how different of a journey it would be. I often find myself enjoying my breastfeeding relationship with my son more than I did with my daughter. And I think a big part of that is because my son has similar limits when it comes to personal space. He's very sweet and snuggly, but he's also quite into doing his own thing. So although he loves his mama milk, he also loves drinking from his sippy while exploring the world. And frankly, I'm perfectly fine with that … [Read more...]

Extending My Breastfeeding Modesty with Undercover Mama

It is not easy to be a big breasted woman on a budget. I tell you that. Essentials for breastfeeding make it even more difficult. Nursing tanks can be really expensive and not all of them work for big breasts. I'm lucky to have held onto the tanks form my first child. They are the old style Target tanks that have been remodeled since to be less awesome. I have 6 of those and live in them. Since my baby is now a toddler he's nursing less. This means I can go much longer between nursing sessions. And what that means is I can wear normal clothes! Or at least close to normal. If I tried really hard I could probably get away with an all day outing … [Read more...]

Keep Baby Close with Lalabu

A lot of moms agree that keeping their newborn close is a top priority. When babies are near us they feel safe. Being close to mom regulates breathing, body temperature, and allows for a more in sync bonding experience for both mom and baby. Generally parents who want this constant closeness reach for a wrap or baby carrier. Though very popular, wraps can be clunky or intimidating. The Lalabu Soothe Shirt™ strives to offer the same comfort of a wrap without the hassle of a carrier. Meet Ashlee and baby Nathan. Ashlee is my local admin for the Tampa Bay Babywearing group. Nathan is an HBAC baby born at home in March. As you can see, he is … [Read more...]
