Honeymoon Cruise Photo Dump

In case you were unaware, I finally hitched Hutch early in November. We've known each other since before my oldest was born, but had a break where she was conceived, born, and I failed my first marriage. When my life seemed rather gloomy, Hutch found me once again and reminded me that my heart was already spoken for. After some trial and error on my part, I was finally able to be with the man I truly love. And this past November we made it official. Yay us! The wedding was followed by one of the longest vacations ever! That's not necessarily a good thing, folks. It was a honeymoon though, and we really liked having the extra time to relax … [Read more...]

These Love Birds Got Hitched!

It's done. I'm married, guys! I want to lead by telling you how disastrous the wedding was, but it was kind of magical at the same time. Long story short it rained on the afternoon of my modest backyard shindig. In fact, the rain began as we were saying our vows giving us only an hour to enjoy all the pretty decorations before having to move what we could inside (and that was only thanks to a lovely neighbor offering up his canopy for guests). It was cramped inside my father's home, to say the least, but we managed to ride out the storm among friends and family. We only scared off a few people with our shoulder-to-shoulder shenanigans and … [Read more...]

Big Girls Don’t Cry.

I have been experimenting with different levels of acceptance with my "new" body. I'm still breastfeeding and I quit smoking, so there are some adjustments to be had in the future that may affect this vessel in which I experience life. However, at this moment I am the biggest I have ever been, a whole two sizes bigger than my "fat" pants from several years ago. I've never been a small girl.  I moved from a children's 16 to a juniors 7. Even in my post-high school, angsty, self-hate days when drugs were for breakfast lunch and dinner I was only a size 11. My hips are naturally wide and my breasts are very large. Having my daughter in 2007 … [Read more...]

Just Between Friends

I have always held onto a lot of my baby stuff since Gaia was born almost 7 years ago. I had hoped to pass everything down to future children or at least pass it along to friends making their own families complete. Now that my best friend has been a mother for 6 months, she has a lot of the basics you'd look for. After having many discussions with my fiance, we decided it was time to purge that stuff too. He's fine with the size our family is now. I wasn't until recently. A few weeks ago I was doing chores before work when I tuned into my actions. I was running form room to room in a nonsensical pattern and I was getting about half as much … [Read more...]

The Cure for Fancy Frocks! {Bandelettes Review}

Once upon a time I wore dresses. I've always been partial to pants because I feel like they're on the functional side of daily attire. But a nice frock always gets me excited. I will find a dress I like and horde it. Even if I only wear it to bake Christmas cookies, I will keep it in my closet for years because a fancy frock will make me feel beautiful and womanly in ways none of my pant outfits can. And that, my friends, is worth every inch of space wasted. If you know me personally, or at least well enough to be on my social media channels, you'll maybe have caught that I am at my biggest now than I ever have been thus far in my life. It's … [Read more...]

Soda-Free September

My fiance and I are getting married in November. That's pretty crazy in itself. I mean after all this talk WE ARE FINALLY DOING IT! I've already sent invites and annoyed my father with all of the details 100 times. I'm getting ready to make the final payments on everything. It's getting real! We're in the 6 week window... We started way too late to get sexy for the wedding, but we've decided together to get healthy. We need to lose weight. Both of us. As a stepping stone we've decided to stop eating fast food and drinking soda. In reality that just means I live in the kitchen now, but lucky for us I like cooking (when I don't have a children … [Read more...]

Notes from the Nude

Once upon a time I read a post about a mom who wanted her sons to see her naked and it caused controversy on Facebook. Go figure. It wasn't my page, thank goodness. But all the same, women were completely outraged that this mother would let her boys see her naked body. Some suggested it was nothing short of child endangerment. And that folks is what made me mad. See I am constantly reminded of the story of a mother breastfeeding during bath time who was arrested. And more and more parents who are actually taking care of their kids are being punished for something as simple as getting a second opinion on medical care or even playing outside. … [Read more...]

Learn a New Language the Easy Way with the Pimsleur Approach

Fun fact: My grandmother was 100% German born and raised. She met my grandfather as a waitress in a  local bar next to the military base. He was a regular there and although they had met it wasn't until he paid for her to go to Berlin to bury her mom (may she rest in peace) that my grandmother decided to give my grandfather a shot. They got married, and my dad was born in France. They traveled some more, had more kids, and their kids had kids. Voila! I was born. And a whole 1/4 German at that! My grandmother taught us a few words in German. She was very German and talked German on the phone all the time. She cried in German and cursed in … [Read more...]

Behind the Scenes: Homeschool Planning

I have been diggin' myself a hole in all the curriculum I bought this summer. I bought a little bit too much, but I didn't know what I wanted and to be honest I still don't know exactly what will work best for my daughter. It is really fun to see all the things we'll be learning together this year and I'm feel positive overall about our first year homeschooling. I've enrolled miss Gaia in a S.T.E.M. class this fall. It was pretty pricey, but i hear they're all the rage.... plus she needs that socialization and "school feel" so we're giving it a go. I was looking for some other focus of Science here at home though since it really is my … [Read more...]
