My First Homeschool Conference Experience

CAUTION: Very wordy post ahead! If you follow me on social media or have the joy of being in my inner circles, you may have heard about my goal to homeschool Gaia next year. The option to home school has always been on the table for her, but she's so social I felt like public school might do her good. Sadly, I was mistaken. What happened instead is that she's so focused on making friends and being like everyone else that she doesn't focus on her academics. Though I've made arrangements to still feed the side of her that needs a lot of social interaction, in order to get her back on track to what is important I'm committing myself to … [Read more...]

A Note to Green Moms

Stop by all of the posts to get green ideas on how you can take better care of yourself . _________________________________________________________ Dear Fellow Mom, Living in today's society has become primarily a contest. As a mom it can sometimes seem hard to meet all the expectations of not only your children but your partner, … [Read more...]

That Time I Spoiled Myself.

Remember that time I said I wasn't a wrapper? I was lusting after Kakadi Ahoi so hard and I just couldn't get it out of my head. After everyone caught a glimpse of the original the pre-order last fall blew up! I still couldn't afford it then, but I tried. I contacted friends and family and almost had everyone pitch in for Christmas. But not enough people thought it to be important. So the sale ended and I assumed it was gone forever. And then the pre-orders arrived and everyone who just had to have one didn't like it. It wasn't as thick, this new version of Ahoi. And the colors weren't as fluid. It caused a big stink on the babywearing … [Read more...]

That Time I Accidentally Poisoned My Husband.

So I have an obsession with coconut oil. That includes both food and beauty routines. I've been known to just blurt out "Coconut oil!" halfway through conversations just to get my foot in the door and spark conversation. Coconut oil all the things! Needless to say I have coconut oil jars laying about serving various functions throughout my house. (Tropical Traditions jars are just too fabulous.) I have to admit that the placement of this one particular jar might be a bit inconvenient: I have a jar of pure┬ácoconut oil in my "oil" cabinet (behind the salt and pepper), but right next to it is an old jar that is half full of my old wipe … [Read more...]

Lamaze Brings Spring Smiles

As you all know, I love a good deal. I also love to spoil my children. When those elements of my life align it makes for a great time in my home. One of the ways that I save money on brands we love is by buying at wholesale prices. I am part of a great co-op group on Facebook and last summer we managed to snag so amazing prices on Lamaze toys. I've given some of them away as Anders has grown past dangle toys, but a few still remain popular. Wiggle worm and hedgehog, to be exact. As you can see we're all smiles now that spring has sprung! The light shines in, windows are open, and playtime is a hoot! The bright colors and textures of Lamaze … [Read more...]

Once Upon a Time… {Doodle Hugs Review}

There once was a girl named Gaia. She loved mermaids and papaya. She drew one with pink hair Who just didn't care. I tell you, this girl was on fire! I made that up. It seemed fitting. I'm also writing again at 3am. I was totally doing this decent hour thing for a while there but I've fallen off the bandwagon again. This happens when I get overwhelmed and feel busier than I should be. I am cursed I tell you! Good thing the poem is fitting considering... Gaia got the best present ever a few weeks ago. I left it as a total surprise and I got like super dooper mom points, too. Gaia loves to draw. You can't tell by her homework, but in her free … [Read more...]

Celebrating Milestones as Anders Turns One {Dr. Brown’s Review}

Last weekend my son turned one. It was a magical time full of casual friend encounters and a simple home-baked cake. My fiance and I spent a majority of the day reminiscing about the baby we made and welcoming this active, emerging toddler into another year of wondrous life. While recapping our favorite memories, we realized how interesting the first year of life is. There are times of ups and downs, and there are times where you have no idea what you are doing. Whether it's your first time or your fifth time, parenthood is always full of surprises. Like those days where I thought I'd never get to leave Anders because I couldn't find the … [Read more...]

Fold a Nursing Cover Without Damaging the Boning

Anders is teething. Molars or something. I don't really know, but I know it's driving me batty. Since I have a busy week next week preparing for our trip to Kentucky (I'm going alone with two kids... kill me), I'm trying my best to stay ahead on my "important stuff." None of which is actually a necessity, but the stress of having things to do makes me feel alive. I work best under pressure. I just got finished writing a letter to an old friend. In it I explained how I've been making these little to-do lists and rewarding myself for crossing things off. I read once that productivity motivates you. Apparently it's best to put easy things on … [Read more...]

Learning to Fully Enjoy My Day {Post- #BWFOrlando Thoughts}

I'm planning this trip to Kentucky to visit my best friend and my mom's side of the family. We're all actually from Florida, they just all managed to up and leave towards the same general area. Total weirdos if you ask me. I forgot it's still winter everywhere else. I don't know what I'm going to do in the snow. And I'm taking my kids and braving it alone and I'm terrified I might explode. Both from anticipation and anxiety. But I am gathering supplies for the Once Upon a Time sampler so I'll be picking up cross stitch here soon. I actually have half the colors already and the necessary needles, it was just a matter of getting the fabric … [Read more...]

Cloth Diapering Lessons I Learned the Hard Way

My dive into cloth diapering was quite sudden. It wasn't something I had researched before Gaia was born, but rather something I simply came across while she was a newborn. I had been moved up north and since Gaia was a winter baby and I'm just a Florida girl, we did not like venturing out into the snow. Making a run for diapers was just silly. I admit it took a few articles to get me going, but once I realized how easy it all was I was sold. I began Gaia's stash at a month old and it was under $100. I had to buy and sell and try some things out, but I had FuzziBunz and Baby Soft Wraps at the end of our diaper days. My second baby was going … [Read more...]
