Christmas Savings at the Dollar Tree

The holiday seems like it's sneaking up, doesn't it? I'm scrambling to get sewing finished and gifts wrapped, not to mention having to actually mail things so they get to their destination in time for Christmas morning festivities. With working, school, and home life I'm actually very proud of my progress so far and I'm confident it'll all work out. And thanks to stores like the Dollar Tree I'm able to save money while making sure everything is in place. I had big plans to make a Santa inspired wreath from tulle and such, but alas I am also overly ambitious. As things began piling up I realized I was the only one without decorations on ym … [Read more...]

Soothie Suckers: the Cool Way to Feel Good!

It's in the air: illness. We love the cold weather, but there's just no escaping the fact that a change in temperature brings on the sniffles. I, personally, have an awesome immune system. My husband and kids, on the other hand, do not. I tend to be overly protective of my household because of this, though I am not necessarily a germaphbe. Instead I try to focus on building immunities and preventative care. A new super cool way we do this is by treating the kids to Soothie Suckers. Soothie Suckers are herbal blend ice pops that support the immune system and add balance to the inner workings of our bodies. I was given a box of each flavor … [Read more...]

Mom Made Us Write This {Book Review}

When it comes to reading, my own child needs gentle encouragement to reach her full potential. She needs the topic to be fun and interesting, which is exactly why we're so picky when it comes to expanding our home library. I remember that when I was younger I was really into journal-type stories, which is why I was so excited when I was asked to review the first release in the Mom Made Us Write This series. Mom Made Us Write This is children's book written journal style by ten-year-old twins Maggie and Max over the summer. Originally as a form of gentle punishment, the book turns into a way for the siblings to understand one another and … [Read more...]

Talk to Santa LIVE this Holiday Season!

I asked on my Facebook the other day if my followers did the whole Santa thing or not. I was genuinely curious. Santa was always a big part of our Christmas celebration. My mom was way clever when it came to hiding gifts, having separate wrapping paper, and even asking coworkers to write labels so that we didn't recognize when things were written out for us. Two years ago, while I was pregnant with Anders, we traveled to Ohio to spend Christmas with my family. I managed to stealthily bring everything from Florida all the way up without Gaia noticing, but I needed to still get a train because that was at the to of her list.... and I'd only … [Read more...]

A Day with the Mermaids at Weeki Wachee State Park

I had always heard about Weeki Wachee while growing up. I had seen the signs all along the interstate when traveling as a kid down to Orlando with my parents on vacation. as the years went by, I assumed it had closed due to lack of the advertising that you see for other Florida attractions. while down this past summer to see my daughter and grandkids, I noticed signs for it and as I have a granddaughter who loves mermaids, I decided to take them to see the story of The Little Mermaid performed by real live mermaids! That opportunity presented itself when my daughter set her wedding date for November 8th and asked if I would come stay with … [Read more...]

LG OLED is a great family gift from Best Buy this #HintingSeason

My husband asked me last night what it was I told him I needed for Christmas. I totally forgot what I originally told him, but tried to cover by listing expensive versions of appliances I already owned and it wouldn't fly. He had a valid argument: If I needed a KichenAid Mixer then he needed a new fancy television. For people who don't subscribe to cable, we watch a lot of TV. My man is a *huge* movie buff and quality of the picture means a lot to him. We currently have an average size LCD TV, but he wants bigger. I'm currently shopping around for a surprise to go under the tree, and I am hearing great things about the LG OLED at Best … [Read more...]

The Dollar Tree has all your Thanksgiving kid craft needs!

You know I like to recycle toilet paper rolls. In fact, throwing them away makes me feel really super guilty so I'm constantly trying to find ways to use them in various crafts and activities. I honestly was waiting for the time to come to do the following project because I knew it would be so easy for me and so fun for the kids all at the same time. It's pretty cheap too, considering that the Dollar Tree has all of the basic essentials you need for a day of basic crafting at home. Because we're Floridians and aren't used to winter (What's a winter?), we're cooped up inside fearful of the 50 degree weather that has cursed our land. This mama … [Read more...]

These Love Birds Got Hitched!

It's done. I'm married, guys! I want to lead by telling you how disastrous the wedding was, but it was kind of magical at the same time. Long story short it rained on the afternoon of my modest backyard shindig. In fact, the rain began as we were saying our vows giving us only an hour to enjoy all the pretty decorations before having to move what we could inside (and that was only thanks to a lovely neighbor offering up his canopy for guests). It was cramped inside my father's home, to say the least, but we managed to ride out the storm among friends and family. We only scared off a few people with our shoulder-to-shoulder shenanigans and … [Read more...]

Have a Merry FluffMas with Buttons Velour Wipes!

When it comes to wiping my baby clean during diaper changes, we've done just about every option there is. To be honest, the Mister is not too keen on cloth wipes despite his love and appreciation for cloth diapers. He prefers the disposable wipes for cleaning up after a dirty diaper. In a final effort to make our system more ecofriendly overall, Buttons Diapers sent me two packs of their amazingly soft velour wipes to review. These wipes have an apple green velour on top and a soft, absorbent microfleece on the back making them perfect for not just baby bums, but little hands and faces too! And they're the perfect size to reuse on of those … [Read more...]

Oh snap! Have you tried Harvest Snaps?

I love finding new things to change up my eating habits to fit a healthier lifestyle. I'm not too crazy about salads or working out just yet, but little changes here and there make me feel better about myself. I can tell a difference since we started being more health conscience back in September. Although we do still indulge, it's snacks like Harvest Snaps that make the transition worth it. I received a bunch of these amazing snap pea and lentil snacks as part of a blogging program. We busted open the original flavor first (not pictured) and were instantly intrigued. Though the original didn't really tickle our fancy, the toddler munched … [Read more...]
