Top 5 Pinterest Finds {May}

I slacked since my last post. I remembered my monthly Pinterest commitment, but forgot again immediately after.  But I am here within reasonable limits, so without further ado...   Top left, clcokwise: 1 // EOY Desk Arrangement // I used this for my last week of school and it worked rather well because I could easily see all students and keep good proximity control. I might try it again for the beginning of this year. 2 // DIY Fidget Spinners // Fidget spinners are soo annoying right now. I have taken more of these than anything else. Well, I lie... I actually recycled more plastic water bottles than anything else... 3 … [Read more...]

Top 5 Pinterest Finds {April}

I haven't found myself with a whole lot of free time lately, and I admit I'm super stressed most of my days. However, I still catalog all my favorite finds on Pinterest and I always pull from there when I find myself needing to create something to call my own. Since I'm attempting to ease back into blogging, I want to see if this idea for my "Top 5 Pins" sticks. So here's my top list from my pins in April. Top left, clockwise: 1 // All-Natural Protective Paw Wax // I added this because I made my sister's dog some protective paw wax over Christmas, and when I came across this recipe I thought it sounded a lot better. I don't have … [Read more...]

A Dollar Tree Easter

We're not huge on Easter celebrations, but we always do an egg hunt and take Easter Sunday to rest and reflect. I am just getting to feel out my relationship with God, so this weekend I'll be reflecting on what the resurrection day means to me. Regardless of how you feel religiously, I think Easter can be really fun for the kids. My own 7-year-old has confessed that Easter is her favorite holiday. This is news to me, but its no excuse to slack for this busy mama. When it comes to Easter essentials, the Dollar Tree is always my first stop. The Dollar Tree has everything you need for any holiday preparation. I stock up on eggs and candy … [Read more...]

Holiday Cheer at Busch Gardens® Tampa Christmas Town

Christmas in my family has always been big. We didn't grow up with much, but my mother worker her butt off to make sure that the winter holiday was a joyous one. I normally travel for the holidays to reconnect with distant relatives and spend the days surrounded by people I love. Because of many different things, traveling was not an option this year so my little family of four decided to make the most of our quiet Christmas at home. In order to still make this year memorable, we looked for things to do here in Tampa that would have the kids excited all month long. One of our favorite excursions was when we visited Busch Gardens® Tampa for … [Read more...]

Talk to Santa LIVE this Holiday Season!

I asked on my Facebook the other day if my followers did the whole Santa thing or not. I was genuinely curious. Santa was always a big part of our Christmas celebration. My mom was way clever when it came to hiding gifts, having separate wrapping paper, and even asking coworkers to write labels so that we didn't recognize when things were written out for us. Two years ago, while I was pregnant with Anders, we traveled to Ohio to spend Christmas with my family. I managed to stealthily bring everything from Florida all the way up without Gaia noticing, but I needed to still get a train because that was at the to of her list.... and I'd only … [Read more...]

The Dollar Tree has all your Thanksgiving kid craft needs!

You know I like to recycle toilet paper rolls. In fact, throwing them away makes me feel really super guilty so I'm constantly trying to find ways to use them in various crafts and activities. I honestly was waiting for the time to come to do the following project because I knew it would be so easy for me and so fun for the kids all at the same time. It's pretty cheap too, considering that the Dollar Tree has all of the basic essentials you need for a day of basic crafting at home. Because we're Floridians and aren't used to winter (What's a winter?), we're cooped up inside fearful of the 50 degree weather that has cursed our land. This mama … [Read more...]

DIY Stripwork Skirt {feat. Marie Madeline Studio}

One of the many reasons I love having a daughter is because I get to experiment and make her fancy outfits. Mama has huge hips which make it a bit difficult to fit into otherwise adorable clothing. But with a 6-year-old frolicking about I can just make everything for her and feel satisfied. I've been slacking on the family traditions department, so for Easter this year I decided we would all dress up and head to a rather large egg hunt at our local church. I have been wanting to make Miss Gaia a patchwork skirt for quite some time, so when I stumbled on the perfect fabrics for such a task I knew it was meant to be. You guys voted, so a … [Read more...]

St. Patrick’s Day Craft: Window Rainbow

We've been getting the weirdest weather here in Central Florida. I forget that other places are all in the middle of some crazy-long winter without an end in sight. I am lucky that the second hand stores are already purging their winter stock with $1 sales and $5 grab bags, or I'd be S.O.L. for my trip next week. It did rain today, which I assumed would bring in some cooler weather for sure. We do have a light breeze, but for the most part everything is still a bit muggy. That's Florida for you. Good thing The Dollar Tree carries such a huge selection of craft supplies and inspiration for every holiday. This year I decided to skip the door … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day Treat Bag Printable

I love Valentine's Day. I think it is safe to say that I love Valentine's Day even more now that I have children in school. The V-Day crafts and parties are really exciting. Although I'm not there to celebrate the day at school, Gaia and I get to plan out treats for her class each year together. This year she tried to go all boring mode on me. When I asked what she'd like to take to her friends for Valentine's Day she said she wanted "kitty cat cards and Tootsie Rolls." Um... okay? So I utilized my excellent tracing skills, scanner, and a tiny bit of digital design knowledge and came up with this: Totally adorable, right?! I am quite … [Read more...]

Nutella Recipe Round-Up

Happy World Nutella Day! Every year on February 5th, Nutella fanatics world wide gather and enjoy delicious hazelnut chocolate spread in their own unique ways. This year I'm straying form my mostly dairy-free diet and settling for some guilt by the spoonful. My love for Nutella started like any other: I was introduced to the stuff in the form of a "desert sandwich." There was no turning back from there, and I soon discovered that Nutella is only surpassed by the inspiration it had on baked goods. It started with Nutella cookies, but soon the kitchen creations grew. From cheesecakes to breads, Nutella can be added to many delicious recipes. … [Read more...]
