A Dollar Tree Easter

We're not huge on Easter celebrations, but we always do an egg hunt and take Easter Sunday to rest and reflect. I am just getting to feel out my relationship with God, so this weekend I'll be reflecting on what the resurrection day means to me. Regardless of how you feel religiously, I think Easter can be really fun for the kids. My own 7-year-old has confessed that Easter is her favorite holiday. This is news to me, but its no excuse to slack for this busy mama. When it comes to Easter essentials, the Dollar Tree is always my first stop. The Dollar Tree has everything you need for any holiday preparation. I stock up on eggs and candy … [Read more...]

Christmas Savings at the Dollar Tree

The holiday seems like it's sneaking up, doesn't it? I'm scrambling to get sewing finished and gifts wrapped, not to mention having to actually mail things so they get to their destination in time for Christmas morning festivities. With working, school, and home life I'm actually very proud of my progress so far and I'm confident it'll all work out. And thanks to stores like the Dollar Tree I'm able to save money while making sure everything is in place. I had big plans to make a Santa inspired wreath from tulle and such, but alas I am also overly ambitious. As things began piling up I realized I was the only one without decorations on ym … [Read more...]

The Dollar Tree has all your Thanksgiving kid craft needs!

You know I like to recycle toilet paper rolls. In fact, throwing them away makes me feel really super guilty so I'm constantly trying to find ways to use them in various crafts and activities. I honestly was waiting for the time to come to do the following project because I knew it would be so easy for me and so fun for the kids all at the same time. It's pretty cheap too, considering that the Dollar Tree has all of the basic essentials you need for a day of basic crafting at home. Because we're Floridians and aren't used to winter (What's a winter?), we're cooped up inside fearful of the 50 degree weather that has cursed our land. This mama … [Read more...]

Rainy Day Spider Crafts for Halloween

For most people fall is all about festivals and hay rides and craft fairs. I'm all about that, too! In fact, October is my favorite month because it's like my annual kick off to happy. Sometimes we get rained out here in Florida, so I like to stay prepared with a box of craft supplies from the Dollar Tree. Today we laid out everything and just went to town. With Halloween on the agenda later this month, we decided some spooky spiders were necessary to decorate the windows. My daughter, Gaia, loves little spiders and they were really simple for her to use a number of skills during our little activity time. For the spider bodies we each … [Read more...]

Water Bead Centerpieces (A Dollar Tree Wedding Sneak Peak)

If you Google water beads you'll find a lot of different fun things to do from sensory activities to flower vase arrangements. I honestly never heard of them until a few months ago during a co-op buy in one of my Facebook groups. I was intrigued, and that's when my window shopping obsession began... I would often get on different water bead websites and add different colors to my cart. However, I was so confused about how X grams looked when the beads were fully expanded. I didn't want to over buy, or not have enough. They're so cheap that shipping seemed silly if you didn't get exactly what you needed. I came to the conclusion that I just … [Read more...]

Summertime Sun Catcher Craft (inspired by The Dollar Tree)

Summer is out, and for me it's quite the adjustment having both kids all day long. My daughter is under some impression that every single day has to have either a field trip of huge, messy science experiment. She is so crazy! Luckily Florida summers have tons do rain so I can force her to sit inside and do arts and crafts instead. We had a big storm come through central Florida earlier this week, so we needed something to keep us busy most of the day. Luckily The Dollar Tree has tons of neat things to choose from. After just one inexpensive outing we were all set for our Summertime Sun Catcher craft. For this activity you will need the … [Read more...]

St. Patrick’s Day Craft: Window Rainbow

We've been getting the weirdest weather here in Central Florida. I forget that other places are all in the middle of some crazy-long winter without an end in sight. I am lucky that the second hand stores are already purging their winter stock with $1 sales and $5 grab bags, or I'd be S.O.L. for my trip next week. It did rain today, which I assumed would bring in some cooler weather for sure. We do have a light breeze, but for the most part everything is still a bit muggy. That's Florida for you. Good thing The Dollar Tree carries such a huge selection of craft supplies and inspiration for every holiday. This year I decided to skip the door … [Read more...]

Valentine’s Day Treat Bag Printable

I love Valentine's Day. I think it is safe to say that I love Valentine's Day even more now that I have children in school. The V-Day crafts and parties are really exciting. Although I'm not there to celebrate the day at school, Gaia and I get to plan out treats for her class each year together. This year she tried to go all boring mode on me. When I asked what she'd like to take to her friends for Valentine's Day she said she wanted "kitty cat cards and Tootsie Rolls." Um... okay? So I utilized my excellent tracing skills, scanner, and a tiny bit of digital design knowledge and came up with this: Totally adorable, right?! I am quite … [Read more...]

A Dollar Tree Christmas

I am very stressed out when it comes to the holidays. I like to keep things cheap and simple and still try to have fun. One of my favorite stores year-round is The Dollar Tree. When it comes to Christmas shopping, it gets even more exciting because it's the best place for miscellaneous craft supplies, inspiration, and gift giving cheer. Every year we make ornaments and I always try to include the kids as much as possible in this process. Last year we made reindeer fingerprint ornaments with supplies I already had on hand. This year I decided to revisit salt dough (1 cup flour, 1/2 cup each of salt and water). I used the kids fingerprints all … [Read more...]
